DUCTLESS

Why Ductless

Advanced ductless air conditioner and ductless heat pump deliver optimum comfort, reduced energy costs and minimal environment impact. As an authorized dealer of ductless air conditioners and ductless heat pumps from Mitsubishi, Fujitsu, Lennox and Trane, we are highly trained and qualified to provide you with the best fit ductless systems for your home.

Types of Ductless Systems

Ductless Systems can be classified into two categories:
1) Ductless Air Conditioner: In the summer, ductless air conditioning system works by using R410A refrigerant to absorb heat from your rooms and transferring this heat to the air outside of your home.
2) Ductless Heat Pump: This system works as a Ductless Air Conditioner in the summer but also has the capability to heat your home in the winter by reversing the flow of the R410A refrigerant. Using only minimal electrical energy to absorb free heat from the air outside and transferring this heat to the inside of your home, this system is super-efficient, and will save a lot of money from energy costs.

Comfort & Efficiency

Inverter Technology–Most modern Ductless Air Conditioners/Ductless Heat Pumps use Inverter Technology to control the heating and cooling capacity of the unit. This technology automatically adjusts the compressor speed up and down to match the heat gain or heat loss in your rooms by constantly monitoring the indoor temperature changes. Because it doesn’t over cool or over heat your home, these systems provide maximum comfort and efficiency.
Comfort—Because the indoor unit is installed in or close to the area where cooling or heating is desired, it can cool or heat the area quickly, and maintain an even, comfortable temperature. The whisper-quiet fan in the indoor unit (with sound level as low as 19 dB(A)), and the compressor on the outdoor unit (sound level as low as 46 dB(A)) operate so silently that you probably won’t even know they are on.
Efficiency—Most of these Ductless Systems are rated between 17-27 SEER. Compared to traditional central air conditioners rated at 13-18 SEER, most of Ductless Systems are capable of saving your energy bills by 30% in most cases.

More Installation Options

There are four types of indoor units that work together with the outdoor unit to form a system:
1) Ductless Wall Mounted
2) Ductless Ceiling Cassette
3) Ductless Floor Mounted
  • These first three styles do not need ductwork to be installed, eliminating the need to build space robbing bulkheads and ugly boxes.
4) Ducted Ceiling Concealed
  • This type of unit can be installed in the attic and use minimal ducting to distribute the cold air from the ceiling to different rooms, making the second/third floor more comfortable.

Comparison

Ductless Air Conditioner Vs. Window Air Conditioner:
Window units are much lower in terms of efficiency, and are much noisier than Ductless Air Conditioners. Plus, window units can be easily dismounted by strangers, compromising the safety of the home.
Ducted Ceiling Concealed Units Vs. High Velocity Air Conditioners:
Efficiency—High Velocity Air Conditioners are rated less than 12 SEER which are much lower in efficiency than Ductless Air Conditioning Systems.
Installation—High Velocity Air Conditioners requires a large supply duct main trunk installed in the attic. A Ducted Ceiling Concealed Unit only requires minimal ductwork. As well, the Ceiling Concealed Units are easier to install than the High Velocity Air Conditioners, thereby saving time and money.
Comfort—High Velocity Air Conditioners are noisier
Ductless Air Conditioner Vs. Central Forced Air Conditioners:
Comfort—Central Forced Air Conditioners require the furnace or air handler to blow cold or warm air from the basement to the 2nd floor through ducts. Efficiency is affected because of reduced air flow velocity and air leakage. On the other hand, Ductless Air Conditioners are installed in the space where air conditioning is desired, and in the case of a Heat Pump, it will also capable of warming the space in the winter.
Efficiency—Most Central Air Conditioners are rated between 13-16 SEER, and most of ductless air conditioners are rated between 17-27 SEER.
